Point Eight: Sharing and Tasting
Ah, yes. It's perfect. You've
done all the right things and now you've got five gallons of a wonderful
product, with your individual touch stamped all over it. The problem is: what
are you going to do with all that beer? It might take you two years to drink
that much. Don't you think you need a little help? Spread the wealth a bit,
make a few other people happy? Your friends—your real friends who will not
resent your achievements—will help you drink that beer. Put a few bottles aside
to mellow for special occasions, but enjoy most of it now. You'll always be
able to brew another batch, and it will be infinitely richer and more subtle
than the batch you just brewed.
Success may well be a process,
but you do have moments of completion and harvest. Enjoy them to the fullest. You've
earned them. It's important to reward yourself for your work and
accomplishments. It's important to share your success with people you care
about.
Exercise in Sharing and Tasting
On a piece of paper, write
down the names of the people with whom who you wish to share your success,
indicating how you wish to celebrate. Concentrate on the most uplifting
supportive people you know. Then go out and have a good time with them.
