Chapter 1: SAVVY
1.00   Think for Yourself

Did you ever eat a candy bar, or a fast‑food meal, and wonder afterwards what made you want something so unwholesome and unappealing in the first place? Did you ever laugh at a television sitcom but you couldn't remember later what you found so funny? Did you ever find yourself expressing an opinion on a current issue, without being able to explain why you felt the way you did?

If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, or even if they make you feel uneasy, you've been the victim of thought control. It's ironic that our very freedom of choice gives us the freedom to turn on the television and choose not to choose. It's easy to fall into a pattern of letting other people do your thinking for you. Watch it!

This chapter goes into detail on the difficult task of thinking for yourself. With your success orientation, with your innate personal integrity, you will come to a point where your thoughts, and the actions that result from your thoughts, are free. But remember, you don't want to learn this the hard way, by experience. So begin to monitor your own thinking process now. And try these ideas out in the laboratory of life.
