Chapter 4: SOURCES
4.00   Cash is King

We're now into the meat of the wealth creation process—how to generate an income stream that will give you the raw materials for becoming successful. The next chapter, “Save,” will zero in on ways to protect and increase that money. In both instances, we'll make one critical judgment—that cash is king. Liquid assets like cash are essential for taking advantage of opportunities that arise suddenly, and for surviving disasters that arise just as suddenly. While sound saving and investing habits are essential for building wealth, you can't save what you don't bring in in the first place.

A key concept is to treat your personal financial life like a business. You'll bargain hard for your labors in exchange for money. You'll strive to create as much money flexibility as possible. You'll expect the unexpected. You'll diversify your income. You'll set money strategies and priorities early in life. No matter what you do in life, no matter how you judge success, money does makes a difference.
