Elliot Essman Public Speaking Training

Elliot's Three Basic Rules for Using Your Voice and Gestures in Speeches

  1. You usually have to speak louder than you think you need to just to seem normal.

  2. You usually have to exaggerate gestures just to seem normal.

  3. Pauses always seem longer than they actually are; hold your ground and pause. (Pause an extra moment to focus your thoughts; your audience will focus with you.)
